Mason HYMN Crown Him with Many Crowns 345 CALL TO CONFESSION Hearing and understanding Jesus’ words of truth can be difficult, particularly in the midst of all of the voices in our lives. Recognizing his authority requires confessing these other voices. In prayer and penitence, let us confess together. PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Unison) King of Kings, Ruler of all, we confess that we are often as puzzled as Pilate when confronted with your kingship. Bound to this world, to the regimens of calendars , we struggle to conceive of a kingdom beyond what we know. Caught amid the often-conflicting claims of church and culture, media and marketplace, we ask the age-old question, “What is truth?” Voice of our hearts, how we long to hear the truth of your love, comfort and peace! May we hear your call beyond our worldly boundaries, past the identities we construct for ourselves, to be witnesses to your life-changing truth. Forgive us, we pray. Lord of our lives, rule in us, that we might show others a glimpse of your kingdom. Assurance of Forgiveness Our Lord said to those who would listen, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Friends, receive the life-giving truth of God’s forgiveness, and prepare yourselves for life according to God’s kingdom. *Time of silent prayer. *Passing the Peace L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
