Prelude: Carol Smith
ANNOUNCEMENTS: CALL TO WORSHIP: What a friend we have in Jesus! ”A friend loves at all times” the Proverb teaches us. How wonderful it is to consider that our truest friend, Jesus loves us at all times. The Lord loves us and has made us to be true friends for one another. So we should love one another at all times. Let us worship today our greatest friend. The Lord Jesus who, out of this great love, laid down His life for ours. He alone is worthy to be worshiped, and we, His people will give Him the praise and worship due Him. INVOCATION:
* Hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” # 465
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison) Heavenly Father, You have shown such great love to us. You sympathize with us in our weakness, You bear our burdens with us, and You laid down Your life when we were perishing and didn’t love You in return. You’ve been a greater friend to us than we could ever deserve. And yet, we have not been loving friends to our neighbors. We withdraw from others, choose not to care, and ignore those neighbors even in some of their greatest moments of need. Forgive us for not responding to Your love for us and for not extending that love to others. Have mercy on us for these sins and the many that we haven’t mentioned. For we trust in our loving friend Jesus as the only means of our forgiveness. ANNOUNCEMENTS: CALL TO WORSHIP: God makes plans for us; He wills for us. In a world of confusion and endless roads available to us, He makes the path straight. The way of the Lord is good. He makes us prosper, leads us to life, refreshes our weary souls and bodies. God’s ways are higher than ours. We reject self-sufficiency, we refuse to do things our own way, instead God’s faithfulness and steadfast love are written on our hearts. We trust in the Lord with all of our heart. Come now to worship Him, the giver and sustainer of our lives. INVOCATION:
* HYMN “Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine!” # 839
* PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison) Heavenly Father, You call us to turn from our own ideas of living and the paths the world deems common and right to follow You instead. You are the guide that makes straight a path through the troubles of life and yet in our stubbornness we think we ought to be in control. We trust in ourselves instead of trusting in You. Instead of binding Your commands to us, we tie them loosely. Forgive us for seeking to serve ourselves instead of serving You and our neighbors. Restore us to straight paths that lead to life and give us new hearts that never want to stray from them.
