ANNOUNCEMENTS;

CALL TO WORSHIP: (Psalm143)
 LORD, in Your faithfulness and righteousness come to our relief.
   Do not bring us into judgement. Remember Your righteousness
   and not our unrighteousness.
When our spirit grows faint and our hearts are dismayed
Help us to meditate on Your works and consider what Your hands     have done.
Show us the way we should go.
   We trust our lives to You.
Teach us to do Your will.
All: May Your good Spirit lead us on level ground.
*Hymn  “”Love Divine, All Love Excelling (verses 1&2) # 366

* PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Loving God, we confess that we have stifled Your Spirit within us. You have sent us the Spirit of love, but we have preferred to hate those who oppose us. You have sent us the Spirit of joy, but we have taken Your gifts for granted and been ungrateful. You have sent us the Spirit of peace, but we have allowed our selfishness to cause division and disharmony. You have sent us the Spirit of patience, but we have been worried and anxious when we have not seen immediate results from our efforts, or evidence of Your love. You have sent us the Spirit of kindness, but we have been indifferent to other people’s needs. You have sent us the Spirit of goodness, but through thoughtlessness, as well as our deliberate wrongdoing, we have sinned. You have sent us the Spirit of faithfulness, but we have been fickle in our resolve, unreliable disciples of Jesus. You have sent us the Spirit of gentleness, but we have been insensitive to the feelings of others. You have sent us the Spirit of self-control, but we have lived recklessly, without disciplining ourselves.  Forgive us, merciful God. Teach us how much we need the power of Your Spirit in our lives; and breathe new life into us; for Your glory and the sake of the Gospel’s proclamation. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP:
Through faith we have overcome the world.
   It’s not by our doing but through faith in Jesus,
   the Son of God.
We are not bound to sin and the punishment of sin like
 we once were.
   God has shown great kindness to us and we love Him!
  Though we are imperfect, we live lives wanting to
   obey and follow Him.
God has done and continues to do a great work in us.  He
changes our outlook, our direction and shows us what leads
to life.  Praise God for His work in us.  Worship Him for His
faithfulness shown toward the people He loves.

INVOCATION
* HYMN   “God of Grace and God of Glory”                    # 307

* PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Heavenly Father, You make it clear that to love You is more than just something we say.  To love You means that we submit to
You.  That we are to deny the things we want or the things we
believe about the world in exchange for Your commands and
outlook.  We know this to be true yet we are so quick to reject
 it.  At times it seems like You require too much, that we are
sacrificing too greatly when in truth Your ways are not burden-some and open us to true living.  Forgive us for speaking of our
love for You without actions that reflect that love.  Forgive us
for being stubborn and proud to believe that what we want comes before what You want.  Restore our affections and obedience to You through the love and forgiveness we receive.  Amen

Call to Worship:
We have gathered to rejoice in our oneness in Jesus Christ!  Each of us experiences faith and life in a unique
Way.
      Yet we have one God, one faith and one baptism, and
      One Spirit who unites us all.
Let us lift our hearts as one, in songs of praise, in prayer, and in listening for God’s Word.
      Even when we leave this place, let us be joined in
      Common concern for humanity, like that shown by
      Jesus Christ. Amen.

INVOCATION
*HYMN       God of the Ages                            # 331
*Prayer of Confession:      Unison
Jesus, we want to live like You.  We cannot do that on our own.  We need Your mercy and grace day after day after day.  We confess our weakness; we continually give into temptation But rather than throw up our hands in failure, we choose to admit our constant need for You.  Demonstrate Your power through our weakness.  You have defeated our sin by Your death on the cross.  Let us live in the truth of who we are in You, not who we were before.  Make us holy; make us like You. Amen.
