GATHERING AROUND THE WORD
Prelude:
ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP: Leader: To God be all glory, the One who visits us in three persons, the Holy Trinity of hope and love. People: For there is no place which is without you, O God, and no time when you are not there. Leader: For you are the beginning and the end, the source of all that is in the wonder of universal life. People: And yet, you take us by the hand and lead us, as the life of Christ walks our human way and shows us that life is stronger than death. As we honor our lost loved ones this day, give us the courage to remember their sacrifice on our behalf. Leader: In the Holy Spirit, we are gifted, again and again, and are called onward toward a future in which we are surrounded with love and grace. People: We praise and worship you, O God, for there is no other God like you.
INVOCATION
HYMN: “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty” #323 CALL TO CONFESSION: Beloved, on the day we remember the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, let us confess our sins before our loving God. PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison) How often we choose to lead our own lives with no regard for your presence in our lives. You are always there, patiently waiting for us to notice. You created our inmost being and desire to lead us and guide us, and yet, we want to try our own way first. Forgive our self-absorption. Forgive our lack of trust. We know and believe that your ways are greater and so we give ourselves to you. We choose to watch for your working, to notice your presence, to listen to your Spirit's voice. Thank you for never giving up on us. We love you. Amen. Time of Silent Prayer ASSURANCE OF PARDON: Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever would believe in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent his son into the world not to condemn the world, but that through him, the world might be saved. Rejoice! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! Passing the Peace L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. P: And also, with you. Response – Gloria Patri CHILDREN’S CHAT MEMORIAL DAY REMEMBRANCE SOLO “God Bless America” Frank Baker
The Word of God
Prayer of Illumination
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:12-17 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
