Prelude
CALL TO WORSHIP: One: Come to worship God whose love was revealed in Jesus. Let all the ends of the earth turn to our God. All: We will worship the Almighty and sing praises. We will proclaim good news to others. One: Beloved, we are called to love as God loves us. We are to love one another as sisters and brothers. All: Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. We seek to let God’s love be perfected in us. One: Remember that you have been baptized. God claims you and has high expectations of you. All: Christ is the vine; we are the branches. We will bear fruit when we abide in the vine.
INVOCATION
HYMN: “All People That On Earth Do Dwell” # 381 CALL TO CONFESSION: We don’t confess our sins in the hope of forgiveness; We confess our sins with the certainty of forgiveness. PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (Unison) God of vine and branches, source and power of our life in you: we confess we would rather talk about you than walk with you, for we do not know where you might lead or what you might require of us. We confess we often get caught up in the meaning in your parables, and the mystery of your promises. We confess our failure to trust and love you, forgive us, we pray, in Jesus Christ. Amen. Time of Silent Prayer Assurance of Pardon: “In Christ there is no East or West, in Him no South or North, but one great fellowship of love throughout the whole wide earth.” In Jesus Christ there is new life, in Jesus Christ we are forgiven. MISSION STUDY DAY IS MAY 22
Everyone in the North Buffalo Church family is invited to our Mission Study Day. As we begin our search for a new pastor, this will be an exciting and informative way to look at who we are as a congregation, what we are looking for in a minister, and what we hope for the future of our church and its ministry. The event will be held in our fellowship hall on Saturday, May 22, starting at 10 a.m. It will include a catered luncheon by Crystal’s Catering and will end by early afternoon. The church will supply bottled water, but as a precaution, those who want other drinks should bring them along. Representatives from Washington Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry will be on hand to lead the meeting and guide the discussion. We will also be sharing the results of the congregational survey and discussing them. To get an idea of how many will attend the meeting and luncheon, we are asking participants to fill out this form and submit it to the church by Sunday, May 16. We will hold a congregational meeting following the service that day. Set aside the date so that you can be part of this important and exciting event. See you there!
