CALL TO CONFESSION

Our faith calls us to break down walls and to live our lives courageously so that others might know who we are by our love. For the times when we have been less than faithful disciples, we offer now our prayer:

 PRAYER OF CONFESSION               (UNISON)
Forgiving Christ, our lives of faith have become confused. We long to see you for ourselves, yet settle for what others say about you. We cry out in the midst of pain or sadness, yet do not act boldly when we are made well. We ask for forgiveness, yet fail to live out your mercy in our repentance. Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us. Give us the strength not only to feel but do, not only to think but speak and to see what we need to see in ourselves. May we be made well in our faith, that we might follow you more closely. In your name, we pray. Amen.
 *Time of silent prayer.
Assurance of Pardon
Hear the Good News! In Jesus Christ, our sins are forgiven!
PEOPLE: Thanks be to God!

*Passing the Peace
L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
P: And also, with you.

Scripture reading                                                                           MARK 10: 46-52
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

In our steps, in our breath, in our sighs, in our smiles.

You go before us and behind us in all that we face this week. And so, with confidence we move. We go now with God. Amen.

Postlude

PLEASE NOTE:  Considering that the level of Covid infection has substantially increased in Washington County, North Buffalo has decided to reinstate social distancing during worship, although masks will continue to be optional for the present time.

We welcome all who have come to join us in the worship of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Please come again.  If you are visiting with us today, please let us know that we might welcome you into our church family.

REMEMBER OUR FOOD COLLECTION:  And Jesus said, “You give them something to eat.”  Mark 6:37. Please remember our food pantry is available to anyone in need.  Replenish with your hands and listen for the need with your ears.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Carol and Ed Horne are collecting bottle tabs once again this year and will take them to the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Hospital right before Christmas.  She would like you to be sure they are the nonmagnetic tabs.

The family of Ray Dyson has set up a GoFundMe page. Ray has been fighting covid for some time and has a long recovery ahead. Details can be found at this link. You may remember Ray, he and his daughter Meaghan attended church here a few years back.

Lisa Hamilton has donated Christmas Cards and envelopes which she has placed six in a bag.  They are on the table in the back; they are free or if you would like to make a donation it will go to our Women’s Missionary Group.  Thank you.

It is time to fill those Christmas Shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse.  They will be due back at the church by November 14th, which is only three weeks away.
