Gathering Around the Word Prelude Introit Choir ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL TO WORSHIP: Responsive Reading From Psalm 40: 3-5 3 He has put a new song in my mouth-- Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them,They are more than can be numbered PRAYER OF INVOCATION HYMN: “What a Friend We have In Jesus!” #466 CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION (UNISON) Gracious God, I wonder at the courage, love, and depth of grace in Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, our Mediator, our Lord and Savior. And yet I too often stray from His teachings and gentle guidance to indulge in self-serving and profane behavior. I know that no other path to salvation exists but too often ignore this while assuring and thus fooling myself that there are other paths to eternal life. Wretched soul that I am, Lord please send your Holy Spirit to guide me back to the straight and narrow path that Jesus Christ established with his own lifeblood. Amen. In our moments of honest reflection, we realize how often we fall short of our goals to follow you. In that knowledge, let us confess our shortcomings to God. *Time of silent prayer. ASSURANCE OF PARDON: From Ephesians 2: 4-8 4 God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. You are pardoned Rejoice! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! *Passing the Peace L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. P: And also, with you. *Response - GLORIA PATRI Children’s Chat Special Music Choir The Word of God Prayer of Illumination Scripture Reading: Isaiah 53: 1-6 Who has believed our report?
