PRAYER OF INVOCATION HYMN: “Jesus, Lover of My Soul” #222 CALL TO CONFESSION Our faith calls us to break down walls and to live our lives courageously so that others might know who we are by our love. For the times when we have been less than faithful, we offer now our prayer of confession: PRAYER OF CONFESSION (UNISON) O God, we confess that we would like the road map of our life laid out before us. We want to know where we are going. Any unexpected twists and turns disconcert us. When we hear you calling us to a task we do not want to do or a road we do not want to take, we argue and construct reasons why we cannot. Forgive the rationalizations we present to you as reasons, the resistance that is most often grounded in fear and unbelief. Forgive our reliance on ourselves and our lack of trust in you, the willfulness that turns away from your will for our lives and the refusal to hear and believe your assurance of the journey. Forgive us all that is past, and free us to a new and living faith in you, through Christ our risen Lord, AMEN. *Time of silent prayer. Assurance of Pardon Our God is a God of love and mercy, who allows us always to begin again. By God's grace, we are forgiven to walk in newness of life. Thanks be to God. Amen. *Passing the Peace L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. P: And also, with you. *Response - GLORIA PATRI Children’s Chat The Word of God Prayer of Illumination Scripture Lesson: MARK 7: 1-8, 14-15, 21-23 Mark 7:1-8 Sermon: “Intentions” Responding to the Word HYMN: “Take My Life and Let It Be” #458 Apostles Creed Minute for Mission Presentation of our tithes and offering Offertory Doxology Prayer of Dedication Concerns and Celebrations BIRTHDAYS Jean Mankey, Melissa Gibson, Carly McCoy, Linda Miller, Mary Hathaway, Ricci Rich ANNIVERSARIES Tom and Linda Miller JOYS AND CONCERNS Added to our prayer chain this past week was Art and Kathy Waugaman; Kathy has been battling lung cancer and they placed her on Hospice Care.
