ANNOUNCEMENTS:

CALL TO WORSHIP               from Psalm 13
How Long, O Lord?  Will You forget me forever?
How long will You hide Your face from me?
How Long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
My enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
Look on me and answer me, O Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, so I do not sleep in death.
Yet I trust in Your unfailing love for me;
my heart rejoices in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, the Lord my God,
for my God has surely been good to me.
 INVOCATION                                                             Dr. Domske
*Hymn    “O Worship the King”                               #41

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION                                   (UNISON)
.Lord, You have called each of us into ministry when You call us
to share the Gospel.  We admit that we often want to shy away
and think that You cannot mean us. We are unsure of ourselves
and we think we are incapable.  Or we just fear the response we
may receive from others.

Help us to believe in You.  Help us to believe in ourselves.
Forgive us for getting in the way of Your Will.
May Your Will be done in our lives, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*Time of silent prayer
* Response – Gloria Patri (Hymnal page 581)
*Passing of the Peace

L: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
P: And also, with you.

Correcting an Abuse of the Lord’s Supper
17 In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. 18 In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. 19 No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval. 20 So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat, 21 for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. 22 Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter!

23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

1 John 1: 1-10

The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.

Light and Darkness, Sin and Forgiveness
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.
