Leader:    Answer me when I call You, O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress.
People:   Be merciful to me and hear my prayer. Know that
the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself.
Leader:    In Your anger do not sin- -trust in the Lord. When you
are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
People:   Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?”
Let the light of Your face shine upon us, O Lord.
Leader:   You have filled my heart with greater joy than when
their grain and new wine abound.
People:   I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone,
O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord God, I wish I were more trustworthy. I wish I were more consistent in my longing of You.  My only consistency is my failure to follow You each day. My sin is following my own leanings and desires, while ignoring You. I confess that I have failed You. I confess that I live my life in a selfish theme. Help me. Forgive me. Reach out to protect me from myself and lead me into the way everlasting, Your way, O God.

John 4:1-15
Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman

4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John-- 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.

4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.

7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

1 Corinthians 3: 16-23
16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

18 Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness”; 20 and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.” 21 So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, 22 whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, 23 and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
