Prelude: Ron Dobscha

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

CALL TO WORSHIP: (Psalm 63: 1-4)
O God, You are my God: I seek You; my soul thirsts for You;
My flesh faints for You, as in a dry and weary land where there
is no water.
So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, beholding
   Your power and glory.
Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will
praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands
   and call on Your name.

INVOCATION:

*Hymn  “Here in this Place” # 401

* PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide,
and too deep to undo.  Forgive what our lips tremble to name,
what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for
us a judgement that consumes us.  Set us free from a past that
we cannot change; open us to a future in which we can be
changed; And grant us grace to grow evermore in the likeness
and image of Jesus Christ.  For it is His name we pray,  Amen

If the LORD had not been on our side

Praise be to the LORD who has not abandoned us to
destruction
Our help is in the name of the LORD, the maker of
   heaven and earth
Come now, all you people and let us worship the LORD.

Holy and merciful God, in Your presence we confess our

You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from
Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. Have
mercy on us, O Lord, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we
have done to displease You. Forgive our sins and help us to live
in Your light and walk in Your ways, for the sake of Jesus Christ,
our Savior. Amen

We have not purchased the student books or devotionals for the winter quarter. If you would like to still do the daily readings, they are all listed in the file to the left.
This week's lesson is on Mark 2:1-12.

Today's lesson is parallel to similar accounts in Matthew 9:1-8 and Luke 5:17-26. All three stories place the story in Capernaum during Jesus' initial ministry in Galilee. At this point, news of Jesus' miracles had begun to spread, and, "Jesus could not longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere," (Mark 1:45).

The map here shows you the area of Palestine during the time of Christ. Capernaum is toward the north, right on Lake Galilee (which is shown in the detail).

This led Dorsey to writing the hymn, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” His hymn is both mourning his wife and son, and lamenting his life without them.

We've been having Sunday School online for four months now. What do you think of this format? Is there something you would like improved?

Some day the earth shall weep,
she will beg for her life,
she will cry with tears of blood.

You will make a choice,
if you will help her or let her die,
and when she dies, you too will die.

Next week, we will be starting the winter quarter, with the topic Justice, Law, History. The scripture will be Deuteronomy 5:1-3; 10:12-13; 27:1-10. If you like the daily readings, you can find them in the attached document.
